The perfume, the scarf, and the bag

the bag, the scarf, and the perfume

This is the token my big brother gave me. I am forever grateful for having a brother who is so selfless and always looks after us his siblings. He shouldered all the finances when I was hospitalized last 2010; he takes care of our ancestral home and us, and he is the funny brother who always cracks jokes on us. The bag is not LV. My brother knows I am not so fancy about beautiful bags; I prefer the boyish big types of bags where I can put all my things when on duty. The perfume is another addition to my stall of perfumes, and I still have 6 more, unopened. No favorites, as long as they are sweet and delicate scented for a health care provider like me. The scarf is tied on the handle of the bag, but inside is a shawl that can be used (maybe) if I am on formal dress. Suddenly, I recall my lady @SIMPLYD with her scarf. My son was given a pair of new denim pants, cologne, and I gave him the Galaxy phone (hand-me-down from my brother to me) because I have 3 phones now, and I do not want to give my son my phone which I bought for myself. My son’s eyes are so happy even though he does not say it. My brother gave him some insights on how to use the phone (but my son is better than me as regards these new gadgets). The tokens make me the formal lady I wish I would not want to be. It is because I am the ‘informal rugged-type’, and I cannot change my personality just yet. Happy Holidays to us all!

Being online and talking to a lot of people from different countries has made me realize a few things. It seems as if those from the Phillippines such as yourself are more and more kind and loving towards family. Here in the States we want to leave home as soon as possible, and feel over burdened with family at times. I am not saying that everyone here is this way, but a great majority are. I am glad to see all of these pretty gifts that your brother has given you. I am also not much for grand items. I prefer something practical, and a big bag would be the ticket for me. Happy and Merry Holidays to you and your family.

the gifts are simple tokens only, my friend. I prefer simplicity rather than things I might not be able to use at all. yes, we Filipinos value reunions.

@ridingbet I have a relative who buys things that she thinks people will like. It ends up being things that are shoddy (not useable) and things they do not like. I know it is the thought that counts, but in this sense I feel the gift giver is only thinking of herself.

@SIMPLYD oh! don't, my lady. When your daughter will graduate and think of working abroad, you will also be given tokens and gifts from abroad. Or, there are some imported items at the department stores and malls here so you can purchase some in our monetary unit.

It's so good that you have a very nice and caring big brother. Though I know my elder brother cares for us, I don't think he'd buy handbag and scarf for me, these are too fashionable items for him. I like the bag, I think it looks good - simple and nice!

@ridingbet That's why I think your big brother is very caring! Won't the perfumes get expired? I don't always apply perfume, and those perfumes I bought always stayed until expired.

he knows my style, and my style is the simple yet elegant ones. I would still prefer the big bags that I can use for duty. The perfumes, I like them that I still have 6 unopened.

When I saw your title, @SimplyD popped up on my head too. Hehe. You have a very generous brother. :) Why your brother gave you a gift? Why my siblings do not give me anything? Hmmm! I must ask them. Hahah

@hereandthere yes I think so, that @wiLLmaH is the richest that is why she is not given any gift by her brothers!
