Do you buy your pets Christmas presents?

I used to buy presents for the dogs and cat in the family but I don't want to this year only cause I know they will be getting enough from everyone else and I am trying to save my money. But every other year I had bought them treats and toys. My Aunty and Uncle used to have a dog called Toby. Such a beautiful sweet dog. He died a couple years ago though. :( But one Christmas Toby had his own Christmas presents under the tree which was wrapped. He went and got them himself. We made it a joke saying he could read his name on the presents but really he could smell the treats. He unwrapped them himself too haha

My sister's dog ate half a dozen of my Christmas tree ornaments last time they came for Christmas.

I doubt the pets are expecting anything. They probably have shorter memories for toys than children. I think it is a waste of money getting toys for them, since everything in the house can become their toys, including the sofa, table fans, and TV.

haha yeah I know what you mean but for me personally, I used to get them things because it was mainly to help out the owner. Since yeah you're right animals have no clue what is going on. But it is more so the owner can have a break from buying the food, treats and toys etc

It's in the holiday spirit. Let the pets have their chance of enjoying the festivities.

I'd buy my horse treats or a new halter at random times. But she was agnostic.

We once bought our cats cod liver for either New Year or Christmas, but they just sniffed it and never ate a piece. They did not like the present. It was very disappointing.

I used to, but the kids are expensive enough and animals don't even know it's Christmas. I do buy my dog some treats and toys occasionally through out the year though.

Well exactly. I think just having pets around is good enough but buying for them? I don't think so anymore really.

Yes, we usually get a little something for them. Like you, we consider them part of the family.

@VivaLaDani13 I know the feeling. It breaks my heart when I hear people mistreating their pets. I don't understand how they can do that. Pets deserve better. They need love just like anyone else.

@dodo19 Absolutely! It actually really bugs me when people on Facebook posts photos of animals that have been mistreated. Like yes it does bring awareness but man the photos are horrible. I always cry instantly when I see it. I wont even tell you the story I read once but man I wish people wouldn't post those photos on there just so causally.

That is really sweet of you. :) I like hearing when people have pets and treat them really good. Too many stories going around here about people mistreating their own pets or just animals in general. Really disgusting. Can't even comprehended how people can be so mean to animals.

I don't have any pets. My sister has a dog, but I haven't met the dog.... so I didn't buy her pet a gift yet.

Yeah I wouldn't really buy something for a pet I hadn't seen before either.

Not really. I give them treats that I already brought a month ago or so. That's their Christmas present, plus plenty of TLC from me.

@rahulvsmokiee I couldn't get him anything this year since he isn't alive but I think back then I would have bought him a new toy...or treats. I can't remember. Was a couple of years ago now.

That's a good enough reason to not buy random toys / treats. :)

We do buy our fur persons holiday treats. The dogs get first priority cause the cats tend to fight over everything. I do have an extra can of cat food in the cupboard so maybe I'll give the cats some of that. And everyone will get a bite of ham but not too much. The pups get upset stomachs when they get too rich of food.

Usually what my family does is that we buy each other's pets presents. Like I bought some toys for my dad's dogs and I wouldn't be surprised if my mother bought something for my bunny.
