One of my co-workers have caught the adult coloring books bug badly. She spent her lunch hour trawling the web for new coloring books to add to her collection. She said that she has spent several thousands on adult coloring books, the color pencils, and book shelves for her collection. She bought online and offline, and from different parts of the world. All of us cannot understand her craze for this fad.

I wouldn't buy them are they a collectors item or just something to spend money on?

Definitely not collectors item. It is a recent fad. I think it will pass within a year or two. After all, the paper will turn yellow if you keep it too long. Even if you have colored it, the paper will still turn yellow after a few years.

I am one who loves to color as I think it is relaxing and relieves stress. But and this is a big but, I wouldn't spend thousands of dollars on coloring books. It sounds like she is addicted.

Yes, she is really crazy about it. She bought from online shops locally, from Amazon and she had to buy a few to make the shipping worth. She also bought from China largest online website, Taobao.

Sometimes having a hobby really can spend a lot of money. Such as photography, you know the camera and lens can be quite expensive. And painting also costs a lot of money, too. As to spending so much for coloring books seem to be hard for others to understand. My colleague ever bought such a book for her daughter. I am not sure whether she has given it up or not. Not many people can stick on their interests for a long time. The ones who can keep on it, may have success at last.

I can understand about photograhy. After all, many great photos of nature are taken by the photographers. They are at least having a day out, and they enjoy nature, and a great walk. It is good for their health, and the photos allow us to enjoy part of the adventure too. I really cannot imagine spending so much on coloring books. Who can spare the time to color all the books?

wow that is crazy. I received one for christmas and haven't used it yet but i plan too. I'm not obsessing over it though as I usually don't have free time to sit there and color. But if it's her passion then I'm happy for her but that's still alot of money to spend on a coloring book

She does not have just "a" coloring book. She must have several hundred coloring books, so much so that she had to get a new bookshelf for it. I think she just buys because she is obsessed with it. I doubt she has the time to do the coloring.

I do not think that those who collect book after book have the time to color it. They probably are just obsessed with getting new book. If they do not do the coloring, the paper will turn yellow.

I got one of those coloring books for Christmas as my daughter thought it would be relaxing for me to do. As much as it looks like fun I doubt I would get a second nor spend thousands on more.

True, if someone gives as a present, maybe I will bother to sit down and color it slowly. If I were to pay money for it, I will rather forget about the whole deal.

Every one is entitled to spend their money as they wish. I wouldn't but if it is what she truly enjoys doing, why not. Would it be better if she spent the same amount on "booze?".

The coloring books are different. It is not just a page of coloring. it is not just a template where you color a particular picture. The coloring books are continuous pages which tell stories, such as the Harry Potter coloring books.
