Christmas began peacefully, although my fancy dress was admired too much by a very muddy and overexcited dog, and a Baby Niece with food to throw around. Turkey with all the trimmings, four winning rows on a scratchcard {don't get excited, 'twas only a grand total of a fiver}, crackers and hats, the Logo game, Bailey's, too many chocolates and far too many presents. Father Christmas was generous and amazing this year.
Boxing Day brought with it travels to Mumsy's house, three {growing up too quickly} nephews, intelligent conversation, snobbery, much biting of tongues, more food, more generosity from the Big Red Man and a very long game of Totopoly, which my littlest nephew {aged ten} and I won. Whoop!
Yesterday morning found me baking bread. Baby Niece came for tea and to admire my tree and my cats. Yes, more food. My belly is fat now. The cats have recovered.
This morning I was awoken by the wafting of delicious cookie smells. Husband has been baking. MORE food! I shall be rolling back to work next week. A football match this afternoon will be followed by three days of doing nothing but recovering from all the exhausting shenanigans.
Goodbye, Christmas. Thank you for visiting. It was fabulous to see you and share in the delights which you bring.

Farewell, indeed, to another Christmas. I didn't overeat and there was only one morning where I couldn't remember everything that I had said or done the night before and just hoped that it was nothing terribly embarrassing! It was nice to see the family, especially my great-nephews from over the pond, but I'm glad that duty's over.
I have made a carrot and ginger soup (somebody bought too many carrots). There is also a parsnip soup and a leek and potato soup to make and I have yet to construct a turkey and ham pie, which must be done today.

The carrot and ginger soup sounds heavenly. I shall be back onto a normal diet from Monday next week. I can make no promises of a non-gluttonous nature until then!

Lolz. I did a lot of subtle conversation shifts on Boxing Day. My brother and his missus are very 'I'm right and you're wrong' types!

@Poppylicious Life is too short to get caught up in it.

I will always remember this Christmas with bittersweet memories. I like the feeling it brought us, at the same time I do not miss the people that I have to bear being with and tolerating to keep the peace. I still think that it is a very happy one, remembering what it is all about, sharing it with those people close to my heart, and thanking the good Lord for all the blessings. I look forward to another Christmas with my loved ones, and hopefully more good friends.

You have been too good. Perhaps next Christmas you could send me some of your willpower. I am sadly lacking.

I know. I am exhausted. The next three days are going to either be blissfully relaxing or finger-twiddling into a bored stupor of lemon liqueur. *grin*
