A coworker told me today about a store in the mall that is closing. I decided to go check out what they had. Normally I'm a pretty frugal shopper.. even though there are a lot of things I want, I won't spend the money on them even if it's a good deal.
Today I was apparently in a spending mood.
I found 2 pairs of boots that I loved. One are plain black dressy boots, the others are thick, gray winter boots. The gray ones were really expensive, the ticket price was $130. The black boots were marked $80. But all the shoes were 60% off. So I ended up getting the gray boots for $50 and the black ones for $30.
I also bought a new coat for myself and one for my son, a top for each of my younger boys, shoes for my daughter, and a couple other small things. In all I spent $150.00 but my savings due to the 70% off everything was $289.55.
My son's coat was 80% off, so I spent $17 on an $85 coat. My coat was originally marked for $200, but the ticket said $70 and I get 70% off of that so spent $20 on a $200 coat!
I love a good bargain!
I certainly got some good deals even if I did spend more than I wanted to.
Do you get carried away with shopping, or are you good and frugal like I usually am?

I got a great bargain, but I didn't NEED to spend the money.. I didn't need any of the items.

@PainsOnSlate I have a coat.. yes I needed boots but I could have gotten cheaper ones. But I got some nice looking stuff now!

I'm afraid to go near the stores right now with their Boxing Week sales. I can't afford to be spending money so I haven't bought anything. However, my daughter needs to get some shirts for her school placement so I will probably go with her and get another plaid shirt or two (someone put one of my other ones in the dryer and it shrunk a bit).

Yeah the stores have been crowded lately, but there are also good deals to be had. If you need things this is a good time to look for them to be on sale.

I always stick to my budget and never try to go over. I am going shopping tomorrow with my mom and sisters I can't wait it'll be fun. Glad you got some good deals, i love when stores have good sales like that

I generally stick to a budget, mostly because I have no choice. If $50 is all I have to my name then $50 is my budget. I enjoyed being able to spend without worrying about sticking to a budget.

Well I didn't have to get both pairs of boots, but I'm quite happy with the rest of my purchases!

Sounds like you got a lot of good deals. That is my kind of sale. I rarely pay full price for anything, watch for sales and extra discounts on clearance items.

Same here, even when I have money and plan to shop I will look for bargains, sales, and clearance. Why pay full price when you don't have to?

It is hard to get me to spend like this.
I guess I have to look at the quality and the price before I can say if I will do the same as you.
Sometimes the deal is too good to miss, and shoes and clothes are things that will last a long time with proper care.
