Thinking of The Past - Part 2

We moved into town when I was almost 5 years old and while I was sitting out on this front steps I noticed some kids across the street and a girl a few years older than me asked me if I wanted to play ball with them. Of course I said yes and they rolled this large ball across the street to me and I of course rolled it back to them. I found they had 5 children 2 boys and 3 girls, the girls and I became great friends. Now I finally had some friends and my brother started at a new school and he also made new friends although we still went some places together I wasn't as dependent on him as in the past. The neighbor kids and I would go to the library every week and we also every Saturday afternoon we would go to the movies. On the way to the movies we would stop at this potatoe chip store and get a bag of chips for 10 cents to take to the movies (they didn't have any problem with that) then we would buy our drinks at the concession stand. Sometimes we would go to the roller skating rink as we got older. I found the sleep overs so much fun. My father brought home a kitten one day and how much fun that kitten was until I started breaking out and had to go to the doctor and was told I was allergic to cat fur. I was devasted to have to give my kitten away. Next will come my teen years.

Loving the memoirs so far, can't wait for the rest. So sad about the kitty. I had the same thing happen to me as a child. :-(

Thank You, it is so hurtful to a child to have to give up a pet so you know what I mean since you had the same thing happen. @T_gray

Sounds like a nice childhood and friendship. Good friends are great to have when growing up. I used to go skating too. Ice skating was scary for me.

It was a nice childhood and I made lots of friends. We went roller skating and ice skating a lot and it was fun. Now if I tried to skate I would fall on my face. @celticeagle

It' better to let the kittens be given away because it's your health that's at stake. Allergies can be controlled by some medicines but as long as their is this stuffs that causes them, allergies will occur so often or they can get worse in the worst case scenario

The allergy would only have become worse as time went on so my parents made the wise decision. I was so sad without my kitty but my health was at stake. @trivia79
