Joyful and Peaceful

It's already year 2016 here, 4 o'clock in the morning. When I thought of wishing my friends here a happy new year, I suddenly thought of "word of the year". I remember reading about picking our word for the new year, and focus on the word. I'd love to pick two words, as these are the areas I will be focusing on - Joy & Peace. If I'd have to pick one, then it'd be PEACE. Wishing everyone a joyful and peaceful year in 2016! Do you pick a word for your new year? What words or which areas would you like to focus? Image: This picture was taken when I was learning clay modeling in a Buddhist temple, and my little girl was sitting quietly. I just think this picture gives me the meaning of joyful and peaceful as well.

Peace has always been a favorite word of mine since my hippy days. Good choice. Happy New Year!

I have always chosen or pursued for happiness, when I am older, I found that peace is actually a more appropriate word to what I really want.

Just an info to you all guys. Merriam-Webster dictionary has its annual announcement of its word of the year. For the 2015, the word of the year was "-ism". Though it's a suffix, but anything you could think of a word that ends with "-ism" belongs to that word of the year of MWD.

I found the "word of the year" to be chosen from the Internet too, I also read some other people like to pick their own words to be focused on for the year. Anyway, thanks for sharing this with us. Do you pick any words for your intention of 2016?

@kaka135 Not yet. We're just about to start the new year and it's so early to guess that kind of thing. Maybe in 6 months time, few words will emerge and will be mainstream to lot of people especially of online world.

What a cute little girl. That is a good picture to represent peace. No I haven't heard of picking a word for the year but it is a good idea. Peace and Joy are good words to pick. Happy New Year

I do not know that Buddhist temple offers such courses. I thought they are more into teachings and application of Buddhism concept. i think I have to look into the courses offered by the temples.

I am not sure about the Buddhist temples in Singapore, but here many Buddhist organizations (perhaps I should mention organizations, instead of temples, though there are temples as well) here have a lot of classes for adults or children. These two are the famous Buddhist organizations that I know they are having classes here: Fo Guang Shan, Tzu Chi http://www.tzuchi.org.sg/ Perhaps you can check out these websites or other Buddhist temples you are familiar with.
