Do You Make New Years Resolutions?

Happy New Year fellow myLotters! Are you one of the many people who are making New Years resolutions? I usually do not make them and here's why-- I learned a long time ago that I tend to get swept up in the energy of making resolutions this time of year when I hear others talking about resolutions they made. That's when I get too ambitious with my goals. By the end of January, I have realized that I have over-reached. I prefer to make my goals (not resolutions) on my birthday. That way it seems more like a promise I make to myself. I keep my goals to myself so that only I can measure my progress. How about you? Do you make New Years resolutions?

I long ago stopped making those kinds of resolutions that I never kept.

I don't make resolutions, but I do set goals. Then, I see how successful I was at achieving them. If I succeed, great! If I don't, I try to revise them for the following year.

I agree that goal are better than resolutions. Goals allow for gradual achievement and allow for slip-ups. With a resolution, you slip-up once and you failed.

I do but I treat them like goals also!

I stopped doing that a few years ago, I just set myself up with new goals every 3 months and work towards achieving them

That's a good idea. However, since my birthday is on New Year's Eve, it wouldn't work for me...

I make resolutions. And I tell someone the resolution as it makes me more likely to do it. I make a plan for how to achieve my resolution and monitor my progress all year. Progress, not perfection is my mantra. Any little progress is success.

Sure! I do secretly though, in my head. So that people can't call me out on not keeping to my resolution, later on! Luckily I quit smoking already...so there's that :)
