Turn of The Century

Now that is a phrase you don't hear very often. I was just thinking about that this morning before bed. I was thinking how odd of a phrase it seems now. Sure we are 15 years into the new century. At the turn of this century, however, everyone was fascinated with words like "millenium" or "Y2K". When I think of the phrase "Turn of The Century" I think of the 1900's, even the 1800's. It's a phrase associated with history. What SAy You?

No it's not and I think I would be the same 1800, 1900, when you come to think about and not 2000. when it came 2,000 everyone was concerned about the millennium bug and things would crash, I can't remember anyone saying "Turn of The Century".

@kevin1877uk I really didn't understand it myself. Atleast they are still together. At the time the family was trying to tell her not to rush, but she wouldn't hear of it.

I think word or phrase usage changes with modernization. Terminology and all of that changes with time.

You are probably right. I bet there is a new word for it that haven't thought of. I know at the beginning of the century everyone was so worried about the Y2K, at the same time many were celebrating the Milennium.

Since it's not that near yet, you cannot hear turn of the century for awhile. There are a lot of innovations happening already. So maybe it's just a regular thing for now.

The old century was only 16 years ago when you think about it. And a lot has happened since 2000.
