I like the idea of it but haven't learned that much about it. My husband created a flower garden out of wild flowers that he dug up from the surrounding area. He reasoned that if they did well in the wild they would do well in the yard without a lot of care.
But some flowers grew very tall and fell over. His conclusion was they needed that competition that they get in the wild.

Smart idea. Is it also possible that they were lacking sunlight so they became "leggy"?

It's about being very "hands off" and making environmental choices which mimick nature during planning your garden, allowing you to not have to do much maintentance afterwards. It's basically trying to copy evolutionary adaptations.
