This should be called Beowulf – Return To Boredom Spoiler alerts Not sure why I added spoilers given how little happens in this gloom-fest. After an Anakin Skywalker style look at hero as a sprog opening, Beowulf grows up, grows a well groomed modern beard and goes home to a Game Of Throne-groan family feuding fest, and finds himself denied a chance to pay respects to a dead thane. Meanwhile an emaciated Grendel, losing a hand Darth Vader style, is performing as a Gollum tribute act with a hint of King Kong, and everyone looks exactly the same shade of just plain miserable. That’s about it really. A legend stripped of everything that makes it interesting. Arthur Chappell
