What makes you happy and contented? I can be happy through simple things, like watching movies, eating out and most especially shopping! Well right now or at this point of my life I can say that I am contented with what I am now, materially(we are not rich but enough for our basic needs and etc.), spiritually and the emotional aspects.

It varies, some want to take risks, explore new opportunities. For them, contentment, and even happiness, is a sign of laziness! For me, I want to pursue my passion as I found in working life we are kicked around especially those who care for others! I opt for balance in life and not get too involved in one pursuit only. I am happy with what I have than think about those I don't - siva

I wonder if these great spiritual masters are truly, truly happy, or not?
I wonder how does contentment relates to happiness? “Many people lose the small joys in the hope for the big happiness.” This quote is from the American writer, Pearl S. Buck, (1892 to 1973). She is probably right about this I think here, because the big happiness is never found, until we learn to become contented with these smaller joys of life. Contentment relates to many things, but not so well to happiness. This is because happiness is never content on its own. Happiness wants to learn from its partner’s, which are love, truth, and wisdom, and so be happy expandedly, in this way. Whereas contentment can become complacency, and so happiness is not just about contentment, but is more about inner fulfilment, which is achieved by your knowing that you have achieved all within yourself in a kind way that never steps on other people. True happiness always involves others in it too then. Contentment only ever involves yourself, and so to me anyway, it could be said to be selfish in that way, compared to a true happiness.

@vanities Ha Ha, yes, it's only my own two cents worth. I usually write too much, rather than keep it short, and unclear. I find it hard to be contented otherwise, LOL.
