If the Police Want Help From Us They Need to Help Us

There was a shooting in town yesterday. Two people were shot in what appears to be a workplace altercation that escalated. Appears to be are the key words here. The police won't release any information. They are, however asking for help from the community. "If you have an information please call the anonymous tip line." The police have interviewed the shooting victims, not "the public." The police have done the investigation and talked to the employees, not "the public." And yet, they haven't released ANY information yet: no suspects' names, no descriptions, no nothing. How do they expect assistance from the public if they won't help us by telling us at least who they might be looking for? Sometimes you just have to shake your heard and wonder. If the police want us to help them, they have to at least give us some clue as to what we should be on the lookout for!

They can't during an investigation. They give out very little information. They need the public's help to get something to go on.

There was another shooting -- the same day -- and we got names, photos, the fact that one of the suspects was a white supremacist, car description, and license number in that case. In the first case, nothing, just "the police are asking for your help." The inconsistency is what's bugging me about this.

@FourWalls ...Some times they know stuff but don't want the public to know so that the perps don't. If you get what I mean.

@celticeagle -- I get it, and yet I don't. They don't have to give out a DNA profile to say "we're looking for someone who matches this description."

maybe its because they dont have accurate enough information to put out anything credible. which is why they are asking the public for help with any information. or maybe they are close to making an arrest and want the suspect to think that he/she is "safe".

I might accept that if they were after "El Chapo," but the police have always put out descriptions in cases like this. (There was a shooting north of here today, and they have the suspects' names and car information out there!) In addition, one of the two shooting victims is expected to survive and apparently is talking to the cops.
