We Lost a Friend One Year Ago....

Today is January 13th, which marks the one year anniversary of our friend's passing. His name was James, and he was well-liked by everyone. My younger sister and I went to high school with him, and he was also our distant cousin.
The last time I saw James was several years ago, when I was walking home after a day of substitute teaching. I didn't realize it was him at first, so I was caught a little off-guard, but we did get the chance to talk for a few minutes. I do remember him leaving a comment on a group photo several years later, claiming he looked like a Gremlin lol. We were all being silly in the picture, so that's why he said it haha.
I found out about his passing on Facebook, which isn't the best way to find out, but that's what happened. He was only 28 years old. When I was in high school, I never thought that I'd be attending a viewing and funeral for one of our friends just 12 years later. James is definitely missed by a lot of people.

Definitely, and he had a lot of potential too. Plus he was trying to get everyone together just months before his passing, but unfortunately some of the original crew had come down with something and the party had to be postponed. :-/

Its a really hard time when we lose someone i understand the pain as ive lost my Grandma and i still couldn't believe she was gone when she passed away. But as people say life must go on so when we smile then the ones that are gone will be happy knowing that we are happy. We must always carry on in life with a smile for their sake.

Of course, we picked up the pieces when my Dad passed (after life paused for a few weeks), and we did it with my friend. I like to honor my loved ones though, even if it's posting about them a year after they had passed. Thank you, and I am sorry for your loss as well.

That's so sad. And he was so young! I have lost a friend from elementary school due to a medical malpractice, and she left a 3 month old baby. It was painful, but we have not been in touch through all these years and like you, i found out about it on Facebook which is not a good way, I agree.

I'm really sorry to hear of that. :( I think the person who had posted it on Facebook wasn't supposed to say anything yet, but was probably in shock and needed to get it out. My younger sister was closer to him, so my older sister contacted her so she wouldn't find out through Facebook.

losing a friend is hard. in my group, we lost one when we were sophomores, then another a few months after high school graduation. then within 5 years, one a year. my other buddies and i joke around that we went from the dirty dozen to the 4 horsemen.

I haven't lost a friend like that but I do know the pain of losing a loved one so suddenly.
