EMT school experiences?

I have this crazy idea to become EMT certified after graduating with my undergraduate BA in psychology this spring. I don’t know anyone who has done this – out of work colleagues, friends, relatives and so forth – so I feel as though I’m in the dark. My main reason in doing this is so that I’m prepared in an emergency situation – if I ever need to be. So, it’s not in order to get an EMT job or job as a firefighter (although those would be cool professions). Have you gone to EMT school, or do you know someone who has? What was the experience like? Any advice or tips you would care to share?

You would need to be strong emotionally and physically.

Yes, that is true. Have you ever had experience as an EMT or having taken EMT school?

@maezee No but I did work back office at a few Veterinary clinics. I had to be on my toes, ready to do what needed done- and not get all emotional. Just do the task asked of me- whether it was prepping surgery packs or watching the Vet work on a head wound. Patients first, workers last and quick! And don't let the human clients always know what we had to do to care for their loved ones. We were as humane as possible but you also need to be alive and able to help the next guy, too.
