Inside Voices, Please

This evening my father treated us to a lovely meal at a local restaurant.
The restaurant was probably about at two thirds capacity. There was a mix of ages, seniors, young couples, young families and some mixed groups.
There was a constant hum of conversation, the clatter of cutlery, the noises as the wait staff looked after their clientele.
Our food had just arrived, when a young woman (mid twenties at a guess) accompanied by three exuberant young girls (ten to twelve?) was seated directly behind me.
The girls were giggly and on the loud side. The young woman who was responsible for the girls asked a few questions that turned the volume up a notch.
Before long they were discussing how rude some people could be.
It was all I could do to keep from turning around and saying, Girls, Inside voices, please!!
They would probably have considered that rude.

Most of the time people don't even realize how loud they are talking.

I'm sure they weren't aware that half the restaurant was listening to their conversation.

Too many of us suffer in silence. Sometimes I want to be as rude as they are and make them aware of how inconsiderate of others they are. Unfortunately it would probably escalate and get ugly and they would never comprehend that maybe, just maybe, they might be ever so slightly at fault. Nope, just not worth it. I'll join you, and suffer in silence.

@Morleyhunt Yes, its not worth it. Better to just suffer in silence as you say. So sad for us.

I don't think any of them were aware of just how loud they were.

I seriously considered it. Then decided, it wasn't worth it. Once they had some food they did become a tad quieter. Maybe they knew not to talk with food in their mouths.

It wasn't that crowded, nor was it so noisy that they needed to talk that loudly.

Speaking of inside voices...my youngest granddaughter is 6 and when everyone is together it can get very loud so the kids are always told to use their inside voices. However, she loves my mom who is 94 and almost totally deaf. My mom can never hear what the little one is saying so we have to tell her...use your outside voice when talking to grandma!! She thinks this is hilarious that she has to use her outside voice inside

That you might say there's a lot of that going on.
