With all the accidents during bad weather we need to be extremely vigilant.
At the first sign of snow, rain, drizzle or fog slow down because the road surfaces get slippery and you can lost traction and go out of control.
The main thing is to SLOW down and stay a safe distance away.
Keep your windows and windshields clear.
If you are on ice slow down to a crawl and Slow down as you approach curves and intersections also avoid quick stops and turns

Today we were almost in a head on collision with a moron who passed a number of cars. We braked hard to slow down. He shot in front of the first car , sideways onto the shoulder, back the other way into oncoming traffic. Somehow no cars were hit and no one was injured, but we cringe when we think of the carnage that almost occurred.

@Morleyhunt I cringe to hear of this, that is when you should call the police and give them a description of the car and license number if you were able to see it.

It sounds then like you were by yourself, if someone would have been with you it would have been possible to call the police and give a description of the vehicle so they could be on the lookout for it if you had a cell.

@Marcyaz somehow calling the police would have been too after the fact. My description would have only been large, light coloured pickup truck...read a license plate? Not possible, we were more focused on staying on the road. My only hope was that he would end up in a ditch without hitting anyone.

We often encounter the opposite problem here, with drivers being overly cautious and literally crawling along the road. Since we have not had any serious snowfalls for a long time, many people now have absolutely no idea how to cope with it.

@Asylum If you haven't had any serious snowfalls for a long time then people will have to be even more cautious since many won't know how to act in that type of weather. It can be just as serious crawling along in nice weather as that can lead to many accidents also.

People don't drive safely in any kind of weather. We were on the interstate a few days ago. Speed limit is 70, we were going 73 - idiots passing us talking on cell phones going at least 85-90 in a line of heavy traffic...sun was out, beautiful day - people are stupid all year long.

I hope everyone drives safe during those times but no doubt there will be those people who think they will be safe and totally invincible driving like an idiot.

@VivaLaDani13 there are always idiots thinking they have the right of way no matter what the driving conditions are.
