Camping In Style

We are avid campers. We love to camp but that doesn't mean that we like to rough it. We camp in a camper surrounded by some of our favorite luxuries. We typically bring along a Ronco Set It and Forget It rotisserie. Plus a crockpot. Why? We like to have nice meals. We do barbeque but there is nothing like a pot roast or homemade rotisserie chicken when you are enjoying the greater outdoors. We used to rough it but at our age, we figure we need to be able to enjoy ourselves and let the appliances do some of the cooking. Do you rough it when you go camping or do you do as we do, surround yourself with the finer things in life?

We don't like roughing it much either so we made ourselves a motor-home. We have a toilet, shower, fridge, oven, etc. It's nice to have nice meals even if you're camping.

@HazySue I wasn't fussed when I was younger but now I'm older it's a must too.

@JudyEv I used to like roughing it when I was young. Now, not so much. My body protests.

We have a small trailer so and a few conveniences when we go camping.

@paigea our trailer isn't that large. We have some things though that we don't want to do without, so we make room.

My wife and I enjoy camping also, or as we now do it, RVing. The last two years we enjoyed our used popup very much. It was our first upgrade from tent camping. This spring we plan to purchase a hard shell camper with a few more amenities. As a writer, my office needs to go with me everywhere I do, to having someplace to sit and write is a must. I could do it in the popup, but am looking forward to having a more "civilized" space in which to work and create while on the road.

@DWDavis I agree. We hope to be able to travel around some after I retire. A place to write is a must for me also.

we do go camping but do not rough it up any more like we used to. We rent cabins when we go

@amadeo I like that idea. Actually, years ago we used tents and air mattresses. If we did that now we wouldn't be able to get up off the ground.

I surround myself with the finer things when I don't go camping. I haven't camped since I was a kid. Your photo looks like Palm Beach looking east from Worth Avenue!

I hate camping but to do it your way sounds interesting.

We do not camp, we prefer to stay in hotels and eat out in resturants when we go on holidays. My in-laws are all seasonal campers, with double wide units the size of some small homes, and many toys for them to enjoy during the camping season.

@Juliaacv to each his own. I like a stay in a hotel every now and again.
