Seems like our kid…….

One of my cousins used to be this chubby and round cute thing when she was just a baby. You could roll her over like a football (not that any of us tried lol).
She has just learned crawling. Now you can imagine little kids become little cute menaces when they learn how to move. And she did too.
I swear she gave mine and hers mothers run for their money since she would crawl into different nooks and corners all over our home. They would spend half the time looking for her and making sure that she stayed at one place.
And obviously that didn’t work since she would start crying at top of her lungs not liking being confined to one place at all.
One day my little cousin managed to crawl out the front gates and no one noticed. She went around the corner of the pavement in front of the gates and slipped falling into the drain which was opened due to some work going over.
Luckily at that same moment my father was returning from his work and saw a tiny head peek over the side of the pavement. He frowned.
He hurried over and found my cousin sitting calmly not at all bothered inside the drain and in fact grinned her baby grin.
(Oh! I should clarify that the drain wasn’t deep enough to hurt her. )
So, he pulled her out.
(I should also add that Mom and my aunt got a very stern talking to from my Dad that day.)
This incident should have made it clear enough to say that babies are huge responsibilities. A moment’s carelessness, even though it was unintentional, could be disastrous.

Yes she was indeed lucky. That incident might have been gone wrong in so many ways.
Can I ask who is the cute little one in the picture? (Given that the pic is real)

@just4him She is lovely. I guessed that she was a girl but I didn't want to presume. So, I asked.
You have got one pretty great-granddaughter. The pic caught my eye and I couldn't help but ask.
Normally I don't.
Oh and is she crying? Hating on the camera are we?

I think the pools should be covered when not in use. Any ways if someone wants to have a pool then necessary precautions should be taken just like we do when we go child proofing our home.
You just reminded me of a horrible news I read in a newspaper awhile ago. It still disturbs me to recall it.
A woman while doing the laundry dumped a pile of clothes beside the washing machine and then another on the infant playing nearby.
She then picked up the pile and the infant and loaded them in the machine.
Now, I wish that she had realized her error before turning the machine on but sadly she didn't. I don't think I need to say any more.......

@Daljinder Oh how awful - you'd think she would have known from the weight, wouldn't you? (Sorry about calling your cousin your niece

I think there was some work going over. That is why the gates were open. We usually kepp it bolted even in the broad daylight.
But yeah better safe than sorry

Yep those little cuties are sneaky. Its worse because they don't understand danger and we can't even scold them.

If you leave babies unattended there is every chance of they getting hurt. Therefore, it is said that bringing up kids is the most difficult task in this world. One should always take care of little babies when babies start to move around.

@Daljinder - Yes, you are right one child at a time is enough to look after. I pity those mothers, who have given birth to twins or even triplets. It is really cumbersome to look after twins by a mother alone.

Kids are very big responsibilities. I'm glad you're little cousin is alright. :-)
I work at a grocery store and one mother was frantic because she couldn't find her 2 year old daughter. I searched the entire store and then ran out to the parking lot and finally found the child behind the building. She had casually strolled out the door (and shoplifted too since she had a bucket of bubbles in her hand lol). Parents can't look away for a moment.. lol

For kids everything is fascinating. They get caught up in littlest of things.
Glad that the little girl was found safe and sound.
