Trailing someone by a scent

The articles I read by others on the subject of personal smells has set off a cascade of memories for me.
The topic has been objectionable smells and scents. One mentioned too much fragrance and the other talked about people with body odor.
I have to say that when someone drives past me in a parking lot and I can smell their scent even with them in a car, they have applied too much, for a long time.
Another thing we forget is that what you eat, or do not eat, can have a bearing on your body odor.
Anyone who eats excessive onions or garlic smell of it, even when they have brushed their teeth. Other herbs and spices have the same effect, usually related to ethnic dishes. Also, did you know that if you consume too many sweets, you stink when you sweat?
On the other hand, if you regularly skip meals your body will kick into acidosis. You will have a fruity, vinegary smell that is very offensive. I have been on an extreme diet that caused this. It is also bad for your health.
The other example that came to mind was a young friend from the college near me. He was friends to my two kids, though he was quite a bit older. He did not have much money, so when he traveled on trips to perform, others would eat a burger or something, and he would do without. He missed a lot of meals. I assisted with a group he was in, and the others would complain of his odor. I happened to know he washed his costumes, as he did that at my house. Yes, he smelled badly.
He was starving himself and his body was eating away at his muscle. He lived with my family for the summer, and you know I love to cook. My friend never smelled badly after that.
I imagine that can be a factor for the homeless as well.
I hope I am not stuck on the topic of smells. Here is one that inspired me to follow along on this path.
A year or so ago, I was on a BART train heading from San Francisco to my home in Pleasant Hill. I took a window seat, as I always do when seats are available. A...

I get a headache from some scents so in that respect they bother me but otherwise I can't remember even noticing bad scents, I have noticed a perfume I like.

I have learned the carmex or vicks trick, I can make it so my nose stops registering, I dont want to make the smelly person feel bad, some cannot afford to bathe enough and stuff

@GardenGerty Lately I have been gagging when walking down the supermarket aisle with both side full of detergents and household cleaners. The smell is overpowering and it makes me glad that mostly I clean with natural ingredients like some vinegar, soap and water and so on. I hate to think what is in that stuff and all those chemicals.
