What is the point of the United Nations?

In the news today is a report by the United Nations concluding that Iraq has experienced a “staggering” level of violence since 2014, with civilians facing widespread systematic violence at the hands, mainly, of those notorious murderers who call themselves Islamic State. Well we already know that. I guess such a report gives credence to those who flee the affected regions seeking asylum, but really I wonder what is the point? Surely we are all contributing to the costs of a team of investigators gathering all this evidence and producing the report, but what does it achieve in the end? It doesn’t seem to do anything to help the people affected or to put a stop to the situation. And “Islamic State” themselves are already doing all they can to publicise their murderous barbaric actions. An official report just tells us the situation is as bad as we already know it is but doesn’t help resolve things as far as I can see. All rights reserved. © Text copyright Fleur 2016.

All I can figure is that the UN needs to keep looking busy until the Illuminati finish their plan to have one world government, which is when the UN steps in to take point. *takes off tin foil hat*

Sad, but true. There is a super power who dominates the world, but they never show their faces to the common people.

Absolutely the United Nations are a useless bunch. They should be leading the effort in the Middle East eradicating Daesh with Troops on the ground made up from a multinational force and not leaving it just to a few countries to deal with.

The UN releases several reports every year about Iraq. It is not bad to tell that not only war crimes but also crimes against humanity are done in the territories controlled by ISIS, and that it explains the number of refugees. I agree that telling this will not solve anything, but there are a few important points in this report : it is encouraging Iraq to vote a law to allow Iraqi judges to be competent to judge "international" crimes, and Iraq to join the international criminal court.
