Spoiler alerts – season 7 – episode 17 The group begins to argue. Leonard and Penny fall out when she turns down a role in a dire B movie about a bikini girl turning into a psychotic gorilla. Bernadette turns on Sheldon over his increasing tendency to bully Howard. Howard tries to make things up with Sheldon by inviting him on a flight to visit the headquarters of NASA. Penny’s car finally breaks down completely after a running joke over several seasons of her ignoring its warning lights indicating problems. She now has no choice but to take the movie role to pay her bills, until Leonard surprises her by buying her a new car. Aircraft turbulence helps bond Sheldon and Howard unexpectedly when both fear the plane might crash but this plot development is abandoned in future episodes when they squabble as much as ever.
