Do You Like the "You Might Also Like" Section?

On the right side-bar of our posts on myLot is a section called "You Might Also Like". It is a list of ten posts on topics related to the one you just read. Usually, I find something of interest in this section, but it always disappoints me to find that the post is at least a few years old. Most often the writer of the post is long gone, so if you respond, there is no chance of getting even an acknowledgement that your response was seen. While I think it's a good idea to have a section like that, I wish the posts were more recent. Then we could get a discussion going again. What do you think? Do you like the "You Might Also Like" section?

I do like that section. I have found that some were much older discussions but not all of them. Some discussions were brought to life again which is really cool!

That's great when that happens. I will try to look for names I recognize that are still here and respond to those.

I recently just noticed this feature also! I agree, it'd be nice if they were updated posts. However, I don't see the "you might also like" in every discussion post though.

@JolietJake Good point. I didn't think of that.

It's not on all the posts you open? I'll have to notice that.

@Dalane Makes sense the ones without tags wont have you might also like.

I do not check posts on the right side precisely for the reasons which you have mentioned in your discussion. Most of the posts are old posts and there is a little likelihood that host will read our posts and comment back.

@Dalane - Yes, I agree with you. I hope mylot will find out the way to mention the links of new posts.

I hope that myLot will find a way to have more recent posts in that section. Maybe a year or two old would be ok, but five or six years old is too far back I think.

Yeah, I like it but when I find out its from years ago, I just have to go back to the recent discussions again.

I asked admin about that when I first joined, as they all seemed to be years old. They said that in the natural progression of things they would be replaced by newer posts, but I can't see that it is happening too much. If people don't tag their posts I don't think they get there.

That's a good reminder for all of us to tag our posts.

I do check them out from time to time and find the same thing. Like Jabo said, if people don't tag their posts they won't show up there, and generally they'd need the same tag.

I have been in that section also but I have found some are really old discussions, is it really worth it to go in there and add a response.

I think it's all right. Most of the time, those posts are old and dormant, though.

I use it. I have even responded to old , long gone users to have the return as active Mylotters.

That's great. Usually I don't hear anything from those old posters.

I have the same issue you do. Whenever I look at a post in that section, it's invariably from years ago when myLot was a very different site. For the most part, I don't look at it now.

It seems like such a waste of good space to have posts from people who have been gone for years. I wish they could find a way to have more recent posts there.

I know about this list but I never check a post from it. One can only read so and so many texts a day.

Very true. I just think it would have more value if the posts were recent, at least in the last year.
