Seems like forever since I have been able to get on here and write something. I started my new job and I have been really busy, I have been taking care of a 90 yr old couple and they are so sweet. The two of them have quite the personalities and kept me laughing all the time. We sat down Sunday and watched the Bronco game, they were so into it that it was great to see. She even sang songs from the 40's that she loved so well and did a little dance at the end which made me giggle. I don't watch them now though because her days are over. It made me so sad but I know she was ready but, this will be the hardest part of this job for me. To that heavenly angel I say thank you for giving me such a week of fun and laughter. You will be a beautiful angel and Heaven will never stop laughing.

That is so sad, he must be devastated. When a couple has been together a long time often the partner doesn't survive long. I am glad they had you to brighten their last week together.

Oh dear, that will be a big downside for you, but at least you are making some people's last days happy.

How sad that you only knew her for a short time but at least you knew what a fine person she was.

It is always hard when you are in this field to lose someone you cared for and grown close to. I know from expeireince when I worked as an aide.

I am sorry to hear of your lose. We tend to get close to those we are taking care even if they are not family.

Sad to see such a lively, happy folk departing to her next life. But that is life. At least you became part of her beautiful life anyway.

It sounds as if she was at peace. You were offered some history before the Angel slept.

I'm sure that the joy that they brought to you was felt back to them by having you in their midst. I used to work with seniors, and although I found deaths to be difficult, I found mental demenia to be far worse. Sometimes they would know and recognize me and other times they wouldn't, that used to tear at my heart. I have so very many treasured memories of working with my beloved seniors, I even went to the home on my wedding day with the entire wedding party, a couple of my older ladies cried when they greeted me in my wedding gown.

Yes, its great working with them, I have a couple now where he has dementia and every weekend I wonder if he will let me in when I get there or not. Some days he can be quite mean but others just sweet as pie.

Losing a patient would be so devastating to me. I admire you for being able to do this kind of work and helping people in their time of need. She may be an angel in Heaven but you are an angel on earth.

@cintol How very sad. I am too emotional and it would hurt me too much to lose someone. I guess that's one of the reasons why I never became a nurse.

Thank you Sharon, I don't usually find out when they pass but this one was just a couple of days after I left her and they cancelled my shift.

I can't tell you how much I appreciated the people who helped us during my late niece's last days. And helped her feel more comfortable. I am sure you brought some joy to her final days helped her husband too. Take care.
