I stumbled on this quite sinister looking character outside a fish and French-fried chip shop in a North Manchester suburb. Quite a few shops have statues of cartoonish figures outside the store. Tobacconists often had Native American tribal chiefs in effigy outside their entrances. A bakers may use a life-sized jovial chef figure. Sometimes such figures look more sinister than appealing, and this effigy looks as if it fell off the cover to a Stephen King horror novel. If anything he looks more like he is smoking than eating the chips coned up in his own head. He looks as if he’ll take your soul rather than your money for the food on offer. I haven’t tried the chips or fish from this shop though the people seen inside through the glass look unharmed by their deal with this ogrous devil.
