Hearing the Bullet Zing Past our Heads!

Yesterday I wrote about hearing gun shots before dawn. Again this morning, I hear the shots as they ring out from the property next to us. I don't really worry too much as I know either the dad or the son is duck hunting and is using a shot gun, which is not powerful enough to reach our house.
However it does remind me of a time that hubby and I were standing on our back porch and actually heard a bullet zing right past our heads! We quickly ran into the house and hubby jumped in his truck and drove next door. (This is the place on the other side of us.)
Come to find out, the brother in law of our neighbor was out shooting turtles on their back pond with a high powered rifle! He was not familiar enough about guns to be doing so! The bullet ricocheted off the water and came right past our heads!
Hubby had a few choice words for him and I doubt that the neighbor lets his brother in law use his rifle again!

Yes! I don't know how they could see what they were shooting at! That was what was a little scary!

@sgbrown If that happened around here the sheriff would have been called...that's crazy.

@sgbrown My husband was a hunter most of his life - you can't see in the dark. If that happens again call the sheriff.

What kind of person would shoot a turtle? Hope you don't have to deal with him ever-

I'm afraid I do...if we don't keep the turtle population down, they will eat all the fish out of our pond.

I know the feeling exactly @sgbrown . When we were the 1st people to move into this area, there were some hunters just roaming about. They didn't realize there 'might' be people in their vicinity. A bullet zoomed past us and ricochet off a tree. We yelled. The shooting stopped.

These idiots around here that duck hunt was not shooting at the pond for me to hear the pellets hit the grill on my deck.... They should go home and hunt not in my yard!

Oh my gosh, @andriaperry! I agree! Hubby would have made a quick trip to where ever they were and stopped that craziness!

I cannot see how they can hunt in the dark.
