Muscle Relaxers--they do not help pain

Muscle relaxers do not really relieve pain, and they leave me kind of foggy headed.
See, I did it again. I got messed up in my back, only this time it was from my arm pits up. My doctor let me have a few muscle relaxers to have on hand after the last back problem.
I think my husband is more correct than any of us. I let myself get too cold.
We went to visit my brother, and my dad for his 85th birthday.
Friday night we bowled. I have not been bowling in at least six months. Sometimes I carried my bag, and hubby's bag, both. Sometimes he carried both, but he is stronger than I am. There are two sixteen pound balls in his bag. So I guess I strained my neck and shoulders doing that, and bowling. Then we went to my brother's house. He had to sleep so he could get up and go to work on an overnight shift. He keeps his house cool because his bedroom gets too hot.
So, here I am with strained shoulder muscles and I sit in the cold. You guessed it, my muscles in my back and neck spasmed again. Different place, just as bad. I have been taking muscle relaxers for two days, and it is better. I did not call the doctor. I think we proved it is not the medicine.
What really helped loosen me up is a hand held massager that has heat and infrared light.
I am not gonna take any more muscle relaxers. I am going to start practicing carrying a bowling ball around a bit with each arm.
For our own fun and health and well being, hubby and I want to eat out less and bowl more. Do you bowl, or do any other kind of sport? How about your back, are you prone to pain?

If it does not clear up this week I will see my chiro. Part of my issue is that I will have to spend the entire day away for an appointment because of our current transportation situation.

@GardenGerty I know that it might be difficult on that one day, but in the long run it hopefully will be the right answer.

I have neck an shoulder pain. Very occasionally I get my back in spasm. I do need muscle relaxants when that happens. For my regular pain I think I could help myself with exercises and I need to do that. I like to skate and x country ski and walk for fun. Hubby likes to play hockey. So, eating out is kind of what we do together. But it's usually at lunch time so not as expensive as going out for supper

Actually the eating out is part of what drives my diabetes and makes the numbers bad. That is why for us eating out needs to be cut back.

oh some heavy weights you lifted on your shoulder that is the reason for the pain in your armpits up. And also to bowl after more than 6 months. muscle relaxants is not always the answer. how about having a hot compress on the painful area or pain reliever oitment and tablets.
