I am not the dog whisperer

And yet after months of neglect, Leah did well at walking with me and NOT dragging me down our access road driveway. I made little Sally stay in the house cause I wanted to deal with eighty five pound Leah all by her cute self. I had cheese bits in my hand then as she showed me that she wanted to work, I put them in my pocket. All the quiet work that we did today did not just suddenly happen. When Leah was just a pup I introduced her to the chain collar. That so called choke chain collar has a bad reputation. Neither she nor I are saints but we try to communicate with each other. Tons and tons of look at me!! Pop with a treat. And all those times that Leah sat when directed. I could tell when she was a pup that a big dog was bursting up and out. It was time for me to see what I could do if I was to have her living with me. Places like stairs are danger zones for me. I could easily fall and hit the concrete down below. So we worked together. She learned to stay off steps when I was on them or come up when told to. Leah passed her test today. Now her human must get going on being consistent and walking out with her again. And again.

There is a new leash type deal that fits around the dog's belly area - not a harness, its different and they say it prevents the dog from pulling and it's not harmful to the dog.

@abbygreenhill If I had such a gizmo I would not have gone through months of talking with Leah. Plus she hates things put around or on her.

@AbbyGreenhill Leah is pretty sweet spirited. I work with the dogs not against them.
