Can't you scoop a little more, please?

Have you ever ordered to go and the person scooping the food scoops such a small portion? Whereas the people ahead are dining in and the portion sizes they get are so much! It is one of my pet peeves when the portion I order for to go does not get filled. I am not asking for the container to be so full you can't close the top, but at least a little over 3/4 of the way or your money's worth! Usually, if it isn't full, I would ask can I get a little more meat or ask for more of the main ingredient (whichever it is). Do you have any pet peeves when it comes to ordering food to go?

When I'm ordering fast food and you have a drink, they always put way tooooo much ice in, I always ask for less but doesn't always happen.

@infatuatedbby Oh I hate that when that happens, yes little or no ice is great, I want the drink, not ice.

@kevin1877uk Yeah, but their goal is sale as much so they'll try to cheat the customers.

I always ask for easy on the ice or no ice. One time I ordered a lemonade for $3 bucks.... it was literally 1/2 ice and 1/2 lemonade. By the time I finished the actual lemonade all I had left was ice. So now, I just ask for no ice and bring the lemonade home and it's basically like 2 cups!

We have not ordered food to go in all the time we've lived in the south. But I would not be happy getting smaller portions compared to the dine-in people.

I wasn't too happy either. The people ahead's portions had my face at .. and so I was like so I can get a little more meat.. then the next one, can i get a little more mozzarella cheese! If I had the time I would dine in and get the to go containers they leave at the door but I didn't have the extra time.

@AbbyGreenhill Great point. I do love the food, and it's quite pricey too which I don't mind paying ~ but common be a little generous!

@infatuatedbby Write a complaint letter to the owners and see what happens.

I would agree with this one. One I have is always getting it home and something is missing. I have tried to remember to check but I don't always.

Oh my gosh! Don't even get me started. I absolutely hate it when I get home to find out something is missing especially croutons for my salad or even dressing (sometimes). I don't bother going back though but now I have made it routine for me to check before leaving the restaurant.

It sounds as if you are talking about ordering to go from a buffet? I don't know about orders to be picked up but most of my delivery orders are just enough for me. I order from a restaurant that caters both Japanese and Chinese foods and they are always very good with the portions. The China place we order from occasionally is the same way. Any place we sit down to eat but take something to go from? They are pretty good about giving us generous amount as well. The only complaint I have is when getting "to go" from golden corral. It seems way too pricey for the to go items, as if they've manipulated the scales somehow. (you weigh what you've chosen to take to go)

It is a cafeteria style healthy foods type of place. Not really a buffet but sort of, I guess. Most of the times I have went, my portion sizes scooped out to me was not even close to being generous let alone 3/4 full. If I am lucky, I would get only a little over half. I would not mind if the food wasn't so expensive, but the food is ~ so I would like to get a little more worth it.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Yes! I wouldn't mind if it was somewhere else. But for the small portion already and not even 3/4 full ughh!!

@infatuatedbby ooh it irritates me when an already expensive place is so stingy!

Yup, sometimes I ask the server to please add some more and most of the time, they do give me a little more. But if they don't, that's the last time I am going to eat or buy there.

There was a time when I asked the server to add more, they would add the unnecessary parts of the food. So now, I just become specific and ask for a certain food item. And, if I'm not pleased with the portion size anymore - I will not be returning either. Especially when all the people ahead are receiving such generous portions!

I don't usually get this but sometimes the server may be biased and judge you by your physical stature and possibly gender in relation to your portion sizes. This is unprofessional. I've met a server who gave a taller and plump man more than my serving despite us ordering the same dish.

The place is an American place ~ it may be due to ethnicity too? But I'm not quite sure, but my boyfriend has been with me , I've went alone before and it all depends on the server also.
