Well I always try to plan my day a night before and plan my menu too. Yesterday night I planned for the menu and I decided to cook chick peas. So I soaked them in water over night with baking soda. And few minutes ago I poured them in a pan with water and salt boiling. It takes two hours to get boiled. I am right here in mylot world after an hour I will surely nap and until then the chickpeas are done. Do you use canned one or you boil them.?

I've only ever used canned chickpeas before; I didn't even realize those could be cooked fresh too. About the only beans I'll cook from scratch is Navy Beans, for bean soup. Chick peas I put on salads in the summer months.

I am ashamed to say that I used canned chickpeas. I never saw uncooked ones.

I was told never to add salt in the water where I boil chickpeas, always add the salt when they are almost ready. This works for all dried beans. It takes longer to cook if you pour the dried beans in salted water.
