Back to the city: stuffy nose and colds

My immune system is not what it was before chemo and I guess I´ll have to manage with what I have. But as soon as the bus entered my beloved home town, my nose became runny and then stuffy. At the beach, the air was clean and the sky was blue. Here, in Santiago, we live in a hole of smog, no matter how much the authorities try to stop it. It is the result of a city with several millions of inhabitants and one that has too many cars. For decades, chimneys have been banned and industries have had to grange their source of energy for cleaner ones. Still, the air is foul as our city is in a hole between 2 chains of mountains. There has been a big change in our climate since I was small. I would blame it mostly in the amount of cars and the enormous growth of the city. Do you have these problems where you live?

I live in the country side, the air is clean, but when I go to Milan (Italy) to visit my Mother I feel sick when I come back home. The cars are the most responsible of the air pollution.

@marguicha Yes, it is polluted and this year it's even worse because it does not rain.

No, I can't say I do. I don't think there is any pollution of that nature here. I know there used to be and the city did something about changing the way industries operated. I'm sorry you're suffering from the pollution.

The way the industries were operated were changed a long time ago here, but that was not enough. The city is too big andit is not placed where fumes can flow.

Fortunately not where I live, but I suppose most cities have a problem with too many cars.
