Do You Make Your Own Pizza Dough?

I have been making my own pizza dough for years but I have never been all that impressed with the actual flavor of the dough. To me it seemed bland and even when I added an egg, minced garlic or honey the taste wasn't all that great. It is light and poofy and the recipe is simple but no matter where I go on the internet, everyone is posting the same basic recipe. My recipe is (as mentioned) simple but I do use fast acting yeast. I allow it to rise twice before dividing it and hand spreading it into two pizza shells. If you only want to make one shell you can freeze the other but I strongly suggest that you leave it on a pizza pan until it is completely frozen. I will be the first to admit that it is a lot easier to call a pizza shop and have them deliver it but I hate paying a delivery fee or some outrageous price for toppings. Usually I add pepperoni and sausage but sometimes I will make a small one just for me and use mushrooms and black olives. Do you make your own pizza dough? If so, care to share the recipe? What toppings do you usually order or use? Do you like square or round pizza?

i don't make my own dough although we have bought the store bought stuff and made them ourselves its fun especially for the kids. We let them put toppings on it. Making your own dough is not easy to get it like the pizza shops I will keep this post in mind and if I come across a good recipe i will let you know.

Most of the recipes out there for pizza dough or even pepperoni bread are the same with slight variations to the amount of water, flour and oil.

@freak369 I have a bunch of recipes but most of our stuff is still packed from the move and we aren't exactly sure where everything is. Some cookbooks I have probably have a good recipe but i won't know for sure until i find them all.

I've bought the bases too and added my own toppings. That works well.

I like pizza very much and this is why I bought the oven so that I can make it at home. Later I even bought a bread machine since I don't want to make the dough by myself. It is very convenient to make the dough by the bread machine. I put all the ingredients inside and then everything will be done by itself.

That's a great way to kill two birds with one stone. I like bread machines but most of the time when I get the craving for pizza or pepperoni bread I am stressed out and benefit from slamming the dough around.

If I'm making, my local Trader Joes sells dough and it's much faster for me. But I usually end up purchasing pizza because I don't have much time. Your pizza looks delicious!! I enjoy pepperoni topping especially.

There is only one Trader Joe's in the area and it's usually packed with people. I like making my own dough because I know how old it is and if there is a problem with it not rising I know to check the rest of the yeast that I have on hand

First, I prefer a round pizza. Second, I did make my own dough a few times but did not like the taste that much. Pepperoni, lots of cheese, peppers and mushrooms.

I have only ever made a couple but I use a pastry base being basically a lazy cook. My husband does most of the cooking but I cook the days he plays golf. I also do all the clearing up.
