US politics and the Iowa Caucus

I have never bothered much with politics over the years. I basically don't like politicians and don't believe much of anything they have to say.
This year is different. I have become a political news junky. I spend half (or more) of my day watching CNN and other news channels.
Despite the outlandish gall and extremely politically incorrectness of Republican candidate Donald Trump and the pipe-dreaming, heart-in-the-right place Democratic socialist Bernie Sanders, they have lured me into becoming that junky.
I can’t get enough of what they are saying and doing and how it is affecting the other candidates and the entire election process. They are making waves, they are working way outside conventional boundaries and they are attracting record-breaking crowds and fans wherever they go.
And I am loving every minute of it! I actually haven't a clue yet who I am voting for. I only know who I would never vote for and I will keep that to myself.
Tonight the Iowa caucus is happening and I’m planning on watching every minute of it. I can’t wait!
Update on Mildred the Cat – she is seriously involved in another of many naps. She could care less about politics.

Crazy as it seems at times, I do think it's good for the country. People like me are getting more and more interested and also informed and involved.

@MarshaMusselman Thanks for the info. I really had no clue what the purpose of the tags are. I saw others using them and thought that was what we needed to do. I've used tags on other sites as they were required and just did the same here. Do they serve any real purpose?

@LindaCPearson I think it is good too. We can all sit around and take no notice but then to a degree you only have yourself to blame for what happens. If things get bad enough people start trying to do something about the situation.

How much more crazy can it get? The Iowa decision for Dems was decided by a coin toss that Clinton won six consecutive times. Can you imagine the presidency determined by a coin flip?

No, I can't and I also wonder about the odds that the coin toss ended up the same way six times! Surely, such major decisions should not be decided in a process similar to those I used on the grammar school playground!

It definitely is interesting. Right now it's hard to tell who or what party will win.

I am curious to read what you thought of the outcome of the Iowa Caucuses. I'm sure Trump felt a little kicked in the gut getting beaten by Cruz and nearly finishing third behind Rubio. And you know Hillary is having a fit after finishing in a tie with Bernie.
Is it odd we know our Dems by their first name and the Repubs by their last?

I know who I am voting for in our primary and even in the last election even if my person does not win in the primaries. But have not been watching everything happening. In fact I am tired of it all already

I've been watching just about everything but have no idea yet who I will vote for, that is if I vote. I'm not so sure this time, although it would be a first no vote ever for me.

I am fascinating by the crazies that are popping up in the US, and because I was born in the USA, I can still vote in the US with a mail in ballot.. Honestly, I am embarrassed by the crazies running and their stupidity...like do we want that in the White House???. I will vote as I always do, for the one I think will be the best for the USA, I can only hope the crazies will come in last... And if they don't , I live in another country that is a kinder and more loving country than the one I left. But it will break my heart if politics in the US turns into a reality show. - for real...

i am so disgusted with how the last few elections turned out, i try and avoid it. usually the ones i pick don't win and i spend the rest of their term mad because i have to still deal with it. so i give up. glad you can still be excited. you are probably really young yet. lol

I have found my very non-political self sucked into this years race as well. It is a soap opera of sorts and extremely entertaining.

I grew up in Iowa, do not live anywhere near there now, and I have to admit, the results surprised me.

I fully don't understand the Iowa caucases but think it is unfair to those who have to work during the time of the caucus because they get no voice.
