I'm going to spin you a yarn (aka this is about yarn)

Like my disclaimer? I didn't want you thinking I was going to be telling tall tales (say that three times fast)
I have pictured ---
One and way less than a half skein of yarn. The brownish looking yarn with the white is actually more purple / burgundy. The image makes it come off brown. I was going to combine these two together but do not have enough yarn left in one skein to do it.
I am still just finger knitting by the way. I thought about combining these two to make a thicker swatch. I will need to buy another skein of it but thought instead that I might buy a skein of off white. Do you think it would go better with the purple (full skein) yarn I have pictured?
I want to eventually move onto a loom and *perhaps* from there moving onto regular knitting. I actually have a square loom around here somewhere that is for pot holder's. I bought it to show my niece how to make them and never ended up making more than three.

There used to be a loop type thing you would crochet loops onto and when done it would come off the loope sort of lacey. Made some lovely quilts that way.

I bet that did make some very beautiful quilts. You used thinner yarn / thread to do it I imagine?

@celticeagle have not seen anything like it. Wonder if they've stopped making it?

I think the off white would be nice. There are so many different kinds of looms so it matters what you want to make. I have just started looming and I really like it - though I have knitted on needles since I was a teenager. I also like crochet. Looming is more relaxing, if slower, than knitting with needles.

I know of the different circle sized looms and the Double S loom which is for afghans. I don't know that loom knitting is slower. I have seen tutorials with people loom knitting at quite a steady speed. Of course I suppose it depends on how long you've knitted and how comfortable you are with each technique.

I crochet but my daughter uses a loom that she uses to make rugs.

My sister has done the latch stitch type rugs (the ones you make on the plastic matting) but that is not something I ever got into. I can not crochet but I think I can pick up knitting much easier. My mom could crochet and my aunt could a bit, but my tension was always off.
