Have You Ever Noticed...?

You are probably familiar with the expression: “Murphy’s Law?” It’s the situation that always comes into play when you want something to go a certain way, and there always seems to be a reason that it doesn’t. Example One: Have you ever noticed that when you are in a big hurry, the person in front of you is not. You could be driving or shopping or any number of situations, when this happens. It seems like when I'm in a hurry and I just want to run into a store and grab something quickly and check out, the cash register messes up or the person in front of me has a bunch of coupons and some of them are expired or are not being accepted by the cash register, or she has to go back in the store and get another item or the milk jug is leaking or something...so that I am delayed... Example Two: Have you ever noticed that as soon as you have your car washed, it rains? Example Three: Have you even noticed that when the phone rings and you rush to answer it, it’s almost always a telemarketer. It seems like the only time you want to sleep late, you can’t. There are a lot of other situations that could be mentioned here. Tell me some that you know.

Murphy's Law works overtime sometimes. I can't think of any examples at the moment but washing the car then having it rain is just about a given, isn't it?

We jokingly refer to it as the "Arizona rain dance" around here. Never seems to rain until you finally wash your car...

@IreneVincent Another example is when you keep something for years in case you need it, never use it then, the minute you throw it out, you suddenly need it - and usually have to buy a new one which isn't as good as the one you threw out.

One thing that I have noticed over the years is every time I wash my dining room window it will rain soon after.

Yes, that's another good example. When you wash the windows on your house.

I have heard about this expression from the movie Interstellar for the first time. I didnt get it then but now its clear. Thank you for that. I do have experiences like these that whenever I wish go to my college early and wait for a bus. There wont be any buses at that time. Atleast the ones which accept the students concession. And I end up paying for the ticket!

You buy a brand-new set of tires, only to destroy one of them on a road hazard the next morning. Or you raise the deductible on your vehicle insurance policy because you're confident in your ability to be a safe driver, then someone you trust to drive your car gets into the first at-fault accident... meaning that you have to pay the higher deductible on the repairs.

Yes, that's another GREAT example! Murphy's Law is a real problem quite often. We all know how it works.

I don't know how many times I've told myself that I'll just do one more whatever online, and that's usually when my computer crashes, or my internet connection goes down, or something. Then instead of going to bed or whatever in two minutes, I spend ten minutes yelling at my computer.

Yes, that "one more whatever" will get you every time. That's definitely Murphy's Law.
