The flamingo exhibit is usually the most smelliest but these birds are beautiful especially their vibrant feathers. Fun Facts about Flamingos - As a baby, Flamingos are gray or white. It takes up to 3 years for their color to mature into pink - Flamingo's feathers are shades of pink because "you are what you eat". Their diet contains plankton, algae, shrimp, crustaceans. - Flamingo's legs are longer than their bodies, anywhere from 30 to 50 inches! - You don't often see flamingo's fly but they can - top speed of 35 mph! - There are 19 bones of a flamingo neck! - Flamingos are strong swimmers, but not in shallow water. I have seen flamingos in several places in Florida and I knew about their "pink diet".
