A week or two ago, I made it official. I logged onto my laptop & signed up for the Color Run 5K.
Running a 5K has been on my bucket list for awhile. Although I jogged when I was younger, I hadn't been jogging for years. But doing that 5K at least once is something that I have been thinking of probably since I turned 40.
In January, I decided to start jogging. I figured I would jog a few minutes, walk a few minutes, jog a few minutes, walk a few, and so on and so forth. My goal is to jog at least 3 times a week, but basically, I do it when I am able. I go to the gym for yoga usually 5 or 6 times a week, so I try to go early enough to jog. Occasionally, when the gym is super busy, I have to opt for doing the elliptical machine or lifting weights instead.
Since starting a month ago, I have been noticing progress. In the beginning, I couldn't jog more than 5 minutes at a time. Today, I am happy to report that I jogged 30 minutes straight!!!! Granted, I jog at a slow pace, but I'm proud of myself nonetheless.
I have 3 months until the race. I'm currently up to jogging about 2 miles. So I have a ways to go, but I can do it.
Achieving the 5K goal is starting to feel achievable.
