Going to Bed Without My Favorite Stuffed Animal... :-(

This is going to sound totally pathetic but I have a stuffed animal that I can't sleep without. I have had her for over 20 years and I can count on one hand the number of times I have slept without her. She is a stuffed calico cat named Chip and she is currently locked in someone else's house and I can't save her. :-( Here's what happened... I'm house/catsitting for a friend this weekend and their garage has a pin code that I need to punch in to get inside. I had trouble getting it to work earlier today but finally the garage door opened. I brought in my suitcase and my precious stuffed cat and set them in the guest bedroom. Then I left for work. When work was over and I drove back, the code wouldn't work because the machine seemed to be dead. I figured that the battery needed changing so I drove to Walmart and bought a new one. It fixed the problem but now the code had reset itself. So there I was standing out in the cold at 12:30 in the morning, trying to reset the code. I searched on my phone and found the manual but I still couldn't get anything to work. It seems that I need the garage door opener as well. Which is INSIDE the garage, locked in my friend's car. Talk about ironic. I had no choice but to drive home and leave poor Chip locked in the house. It sounds ridiculous but I'm honestly heartbroken over it. She's like my security blanket. :-(

Oh no. How long will you be pet sitting so you can get back into the home to feed the cat / watch the house? I hope you'll be able to sleep today. I had a security stuff animal too, well it was from minnie mouses head (the bow). The bow was my security item that I slept with every night.

The family came home last night and I got my stuffed kitty back. I was so glad to have her back. I know it sounds silly, but she's always been a comfort to me. lol

well, i hope you let them know so that they can save it and not loose it when you get back. there are things that we can't live with out. maybe you should have lock it in your house so that it wouldn't get lost some where. that's really sad.

I don't have such rituals in sleeping. However, I had seen some of my friends cannot sleep without their things in bed like yours.

Wow, in a way, it's kinda cute. I like to think of it as a way to feel comfortable when you go to bed at nights. But, it's cute still in a way.

It's definitely a comfort to me. My mother didn't treat me right as I was growing up and having the stuffed cat helped me feel better. Pathetic, but true.

I hope your friends will be able to get in when they return, and so will be able to return the cat to you.

How long until you get her back? I left a favorite stuffed dog in a taxi in Italy when I was four, and I'm still traumatized by it. My parents said they'd get me another one. They didn't understand.

I got her back already. :-) Parents never seem to understand with that sort of thing. Another stuffed animal just isn't the same. :-(

Poor Chip! She might have been scared out of her wits! Where is the 'real' cat? And how does she/he figure in all this?
