150 mph wind hit at cruise ship

It must be a scary experience to the 5000 passengers and crew members of Anthem of the Seas (Royal Caribbean). Apparently the conditions deteriorated rapidly and the cruise ship was stuck in the storm. Anthem of the Seas was not built to sail through this kind of storm. The best it can do is to ride out the storm. The surprising thing is that wifi is still available, and the passengers are able to give live reports and upload videos and pictures online. The passengers sound quite upbeat, and they do not complain about seasickness or anything. I think I am more worried!
Live...mostly...from Anthem Royal Caribbean International

My goodness how could they be that brave. I'd panic for sure if I was there.

No, you will not. Most people do not panic when they are in the face of disaster. They probably panic before the storm, but once the storm hits, and they know that the ship will not sink, they will stay in the cabin, and enjoy the scene.

It is still safer than on land. The ship can withstand the storm. if you read through the live reports from passengers, you can see that not one of them is fearful, and they do not even have seasickness.

You will do as the passengers did. They stay in their cabins, enjoy the scenery of the stormy sea, and they sleep.

I would have been seriously scared, myself! We went on a cruise a few years ago and were just ahead of a hurricane. The seas were very rough and many people were getting sick, but I don't think it was as bad as what this cruise ship came through. I think I would have been pretty scared!

Those passengers who give the live reports do not seem scared. They are quite positive, and surprisingly, the wifi is still strong enough for them to upload videos and photos.

@sgbrown The captain did not say so. That is why the passengers trust him so much. He did not try to lessen the impact of the storm. He gave factual report, and he was in constant communication with the coast guard.

@scheng1 I'm sure the captain and crew were trying to keep everyone calm and telling them that everything would be fine, but I would be afraid they were lying to me so I wouldn't be scared!

As much as I'd like to take a cruise it's times like this that makes me think twice. That must have been pretty scary to have gotten caught in storm.
