I am in a grouchy mood today, so whilst I was waiting for the bus and listening to a couple yapping away, I could feel my brain going through a meltdown.. Why.. the amount phrases that sprouts from the guy were making me question the intellect of human as a collective species. Here is a list of phrases he said.. & I loathed: 1) Alwight larrve? - Alright love? (which is an odd way of saying hi to someone you don't know). 2) Safe mate! Safe! (same as cool.. just so uncool) 3) Yer man had this yoke and was poking about (Yer man = any random dude, yoke = thing. This phrase largely interpret as "this random dude had this odd thing, and was poking it around".. I lost the will to listen after that.. Is there any phrase that annoys you? feel free to add to the list!

Perhaps I'd be lost in Ireland. I couldn't tell the commonly used phrases from the boorish ones. Here in the US, many people talk like they're never opened a book or listened to music that isn't rap.

Lol.. ya I think in some part of Ireland, you simply won't be able to understand their accent for stop. But yas, nothing worse than a person trying to outdo each other with "street talks"

When I go to our office in the USA, I want to scream every time somebody tells me to 'have a good one'. A good one of what?

No matter where one lives, there will always be the literate and the illiterate. Whatever. Lol! Whatever is how some people respond here in the USA. To me it means they don't care much about what one has said.

I don't like it when people say "like" throughout a conversation. when people say bore off it annoys me. simples is getting on my nerves. axed instead of asked (happens a lot on us shows) y'get me annoys me. Sometimes I just get annoyed when people say anything to me

HAHAHA "ya I know what you mean.." thats another one I hear a lot. A good one to "like" is all the Ozzies I know finish their sentences with a "eh?" it's very maddening.. because you feel obligated to carry on going "aye!"

@Drosophila that's the raising Australian inflection which was considered such a threat to proper English at the height of Neighbours and Home and Away. These days I am more annoyed by middle class white kids speaking like rappers and posting stuff on Facebook saying "I be like"

As a whole I try not to let things like that get to me, but once in awhile I'll find myself being irritated. I hate the term "bae" it drives me crazy. I'm sure there are more that might annoy me on a bad day. Usually I just let things roll off my back, because I don't want to spend my day irritated, but sometimes it can be difficult.

@Drosophila lol, how we feel has everything to do with how we react. I'm more prone to have patience when I'm not sick or tired. I can be a bear when I haven't had any sleep.

@sissy15 exactly, so whoever said "its how you chose to react.." really is born with Zen all the way..

I was coming down with a cold.. so ya, anything like that just grates on my nerves like a cheese grater on a block of cheddar.. But ya I guess "it's how you chose to react that matters.." Golly another phrase that annoys me. It's like the person uttered it has never experienced passionate emotions

the youth (yoof) phrase 'that's so gay' annoys me - since when was gay a metaphor for anything someone finds uncool or out of fashion? - a whole new kind of homophobia

Phrases and accents are unique to countries. Some speak without telling/meaning much. Now I feel more challenged by the increasing use of emoticons - I hope they are complimentary when they use them on my posts/responses - siva
