One thing that happened on this day in 1812, was that Charles Dickens was born in Portsmouth, England. I would imagine that many who live in England already know that.
In 1904, Baltimore, Maryland USA experienced a raging fire that lasted more than 30 hours and destroyed more than 1500 buildings. Those who live in Baltimore, might know about this, I would imagine.
On February 7th, 1964, the Beatles began their first American tour as they flew into New York City’s John F. Kennedy International Airport.
How about women in Switzerland? You might remember this historic date in 1971, when women won the right to vote.
How about Haiti? It was on February 7th that Haitian President-for-life, Jean Claude Duvalier fled his country, ending his family’s rule of 28 years.
How about Jordan? Jordan’s King Hussein died of cancer on this date in 1999 at the age of 63. He was succeeded by his oldest son, Abdullah.
Garth Brooks and Ashton Kutcher were born on this date.
Do you know of anything else that might have made the news on that day?
What happened on this date in your country?

Interesting facts but I don't know what happened in Australia on this day. I guess there was something.
I bought Vince a book called 'And What Else Happened?' Vince was born in 1947 and the book is full of other stuff that happened in that year. It's very interesting. The guy is on to a good thing as he's done a book for every year over several decades and I guess he's working on more.

Yes, I've seen similar small books, usually in souvenir shops and I purchased a few of them for my children and myself. I'm not sure what ever became of them. But, the writer listed things like minimum wage, and the price of a loaf of bread, and how much a new car cost, etc. It was FUN to read the various facts.

@IreneVincent There was a lot of stuff which would have been exciting/horrifying/remarkable at the time but which is all forgotten now.

@JudyEv We usually do forget things easily, because there is always something new happening. Childhood memories bring back some of the things we lived through, and we learned some historical facts in school, but most of it doesn't stay with us.
