Do You Keep A Journal?

I have been journaling for many years. I’ve been keeping track of family history in general. I have a notebook and pen on the side table of the chair where I sit to watch TV downstairs and I make it a habit to watch the 6:30 PM evening news every day, if possible.
Any newsworthy items, I jot down in my notebook. I also have another notebook on the chest of drawers that sits beside the computer desk upstairs and I check the daily news on the computer. There’s usually always something of interest to record from that source.
Then, at night, before I go to bed, I write down any family matters and record the date of whatever may have happened, that particular day within the family and I also include friends.
I also save all my Date Books from years past in which I have recorded social activities and business trips and meeting notes.
I never expected to be able to use any of this information on MyLot, but all these notebooks have proved to be useful. And I will continue to write in my journals. My grandchildren will have plenty to read, if they should want to know about such things in the future.

Yes, it's a good idea, keeping a journal, because we sometimes forget things. I know I found one of mine from 1989 and as I read it, I said to myself: "I don't even remember doing that or going there and WHO is that person I wrote about?" Now, I'm more specific, because I could not remember any details on some of the incidents that I wrote about.

I kept one for a bit, but it seemed I filled most of the pages with complaints and stuff that sounded too whiny.

But that's not always a bad thing. If we can express ourselves in writing, it helps to relieve our frustrations and anger. I write about that too sometimes.

I am definitely one who keeps a journal. My current one is about my experience in writing my book. I record how I'm feeling, experiment with ideas, include motivational quotes from famous writers, set daily goals and generally record my progress.

Good for you. You will have a record of all your feelings and ideas for future reference. I love motivational quotes.

I wasn't really into journalling but I did keep a diary for many years when we used to do interesting things.
