Pet Peeves - I Have a Few

I'm pretty much a "to each his own," "live and let live" kind of guy, but I do have a few pet peeves.
One has to do with smokers. I don't dislike smokers for the most part. I do mind, however, seeing lots of cigarette butts lying all over the ground, especially when there is a butt receptacle five feet away.
Are they so lazy that they can't walk five feet?
We're a small, quaint tourist town. A bunch of butts on the ground is not the image this town needs. I'd hate for visitors to have that as part of the memories of their visit. Come on smokers, use the butt receptacle. That's why they are there.

@teamfreak16 What about other towns in your state? And the US in general? Is there more and more smoking bans being implemented?

In Colorado Springs, you can't even smoke in the parks anymore.

@teamfreak16 I heard the urge stays around some. But, I bet it is liberating to be away from them. That's what I am looking for.

I know. I had to get a vape pen to help quit. I still want to smoke every so often, though.

Not throwing butts around should be a universal rule - nothing to do with how small or big a town is.

Big city, small town, it should be that way. It would be hard to enforce without beat cops. Although, hit enough of them with a fine and the word would get around.

I am a smoker and I don't understand why they do this. There is a young woman who lives upstairs and she is forever throwing her butts downstairs where we sit. There is a receptacle on the same floor just outside her door. It really makes me angry because I am not like that and I will use either our ash tray or the receptacle. I don't like seeing butts all over the place either.

I even keep a butt can outside of our apartment door just in case anyone wants to use it. No one does.

@teamfreak16 There are so many smokers who give considerate smokers a bad name. I always try to be considerate of the people around me. I won't smoke outside if there is a non-smoker around. I don't smoke in our home and I don't smoke in the car. I always throw my butts away and it makes me angry when other smokers don't.

This morning, there was a bunch of butts all over the place in front of all the bars, even though they all have receptacles or butt cans out front.

@teamfreak16 Yes, it does - thankfully, nowadays, most smokers keep a distance from the crowd. I remember the days when people smoked inside planes and lucky those days are past! siva

And since you are allergic, any secondhand smoke would naturally find you. It just works that way.

I used to work at a homeless shelter in Wyoming. The men's smoking area had three butt receptacles. Even so, one of the residents picked a hundred of them up from the ground one day.
