Valentine's Gifts after being married.

I have been with my husband for 9 years and married 6 of that. Prior to kids and marriage, Valentine's Day was like a birthday for me. I expected my hubby to get me something just like he would on my birthday or Christmas. Now, we have 3 kids and the hustle and bustle of busy life's and daily tasks. The last couple years we have agreed to not get each other anything, but rather take the kids out to dinner with us and then do something fun afterwards. Does anyone else throw the traditional gift giving out the window for Valentine's Day?

Sometimes you decide to do what is best for your family and go with that.

I am married from 40 years, we never exchanged gifts, but I have the tradition to prepare a nice dinner for two.

I think you did the right thing .dear. staying with family is always the priority.but most of peope avoid that. they often let work occupy their time . and spend less time companying their family. it is good desicion you made.dear friend.

I have been with my boyfriend almost 2 years now and we just had a daughter on Christmas. For valentine's day I told him I didn't want any jewellery which is his usual gift to me. Instead he got me the CD I wanted, a cute teddy bear and some candy. For him I got him an adult colouring book and preordered him Star Wars. Lately we have been more casual about things as I don't understand what the whole fuss is about getting big gifts, when the day is more meant to be spent celebrating the love you have for eachother.
