So you've got the notice that the much awaited Windows 10 is available for you to download and that your computer is qualified for it. However, I wonder if anyone of you had the experience of this issue where you could not upgrade to the Windows 10 because you have a bewildering loaded Disk C which has about 1-3GB of space available out of 50GB initially partitioned from a 250GB or 500GB hard disk.
Well, I believe the following steps (advocated) by writers could help you out and let you install the free OS upgrade. I am not going to write the entire account but I would like you to read the references in the order I've stated below to start with a basic understanding as to what is happening with your computer and know what that is advocated to resolve the issue and upgrade the needed.
1. What is happening with the loaded Disk C
It is really a wonder as to what is going on with your computer and I just hope you will not get that storm after a calm effect with yours. So educating and learning it yourself will be a good asset as you go about taking care of your expensive investment.
2. Use TreeSize Program to see the files the above is talking about

3. Clean Up the Winsxs file
Note this is a very basic clean up which cannot resolve much but it will pave the way to the next step.

4. Repartition your Disk C to increase the disk space needed
Please note that I am not selling any medicine or brand here but it is important to know that other than this brand which could carry out the entire process free of charge. I have tested what was recommended by some writers above but when it comes to Disk C, you will need to get the "PAID" version. Also, I don't think I've infringed any rules when this is just a recommendation.

After you've arrived here, I will assure you that your upgrading will not face any problem as far as disk space is concern. You will also appreciate the faster and smoother operation of your computer after this repartitioning exercise.
Please feel free to ask any questions here or feedback if there are any issues I should note with the above recommendation. All in all I just hope that this will be another learning experience for everyone here.
Learn about WinSxs folder of Windows 10/8/7. What is WinSxS directory? Can you remove, backup files or delete WinSxS folder? Is WinSxS cleanup recommended?

I haven't had any problems. It downloaded automatically. I didn't have to do a thing. There were a few issues to begin with but they aren't happening often now at all. I am really pretty happy with it.

I am happy that your upgrade went about smoothly which I hope is the majority as well. I posted this because I've encountered from a number of cases from my circle of workmates, friends and relatives where their computers are relatively quite back in time. One of the cons about the previous OS namely Win7 and Win8 is that it accumulates quite a hefty amount of files that are used for restoration and hibernation. I don't know what Microsoft was thinking but they sure weren't thinking about managing our scarce memory resources carefully.
Fortunately they did manage to allow repartitioning of our hard disk or reinstalling the OS without having to format the entire disk where we will risk loosing our important files, pictures and installed programs. The recommended disk space was like 30GB for 32bit or 50GB for a 64bit OS andI felt that they should have allowed more on the operating partition Disk C.
Another reason for this is because there are way too many information good and bad ones together when you perform a search on how to resolve your problems or to some quarters who don't even know what is happening and where to look for the answers. And even when they find them it will be like aforementioned don't know which one is the right advocate to follow. So, I made a compilation to shorten the process and apply the workable solution recommended.
I am glad that yours went about without a hitch. Hope you are enjoying the newly installed OS but if you do have some unresolved issue(s) you may want to share it with me, please don't hesitate.
