Colorful Foods With No Distinct Flavor

As a kid I was disappointed when my colorful ice gem biscuits had no distinct flavor. They came in white, green, pink and yellow. I've always wished that the pink ones had a strawberry flavor. Instead, the colorful icing on the biscuits all tasted the same. I noticed that this "colorful with no distinct flavor" logic applied to some other foods such as M&Ms, Paddle Pops and some confectioneries (like my picture of steamed rice cakes). I know it's attractive and all, but is it worth our health since it all looks the same when we pass it out. I would opt for the natural stuff. Do you judge food by its cover? No. I read the label to find out if there are flavors available since I like my food to have some flavor to it. I'm sorry your biscuit gems didn't have any flavor to them. That would be like eating cardboard.

Lol, thankful that they didn't taste like cardboard it's just a flat sugary taste. Yeah, I prefer flavored foods too. The more the merrier!

I was never disappointed even if those ice gem biscuits taste the same. I enjoyed munching them. Until now, I am craving for those. Hihihi! But it'd be different if it's the ice cream with different colors would all taste the same.

Yes, if I get strawberry ice cream, I expect the color to be red. I think it will be awful if I eat brown ice cream that does not have a taste of chocolate.

Same here, it can be a let down when colors do not match with their flavors.

Indeed, they can be quite upsetting since they're artificial colorings at play.

Here artificial and chemical colored ice creams are captured from street vendors. That is very bad for health, but attracts with its color to children.

You're right! Children fall prey to these bright colors not knowing they're actually not very good for them.

since most c olors in foods are artifica l I would bypass that and aim for natural instead as these colors are artificial chemicals our bodies do not need at all and really are not good for us;

You're right! We try our best to avoid them since they have zero nutrition and may contain harmful substances.

I love to make dishes with different colours in the plate. But the flavours are different too. I donĀ“t use food coloring.

I think many people eat with their eyes first and that is what attracts us to these foods.

Yes we rely on the food's appearance to gauge if it's tasty or safe, however, some don't exactly get turned on by rainbow colored foods.

@Ladypeace I used to. If it looked good I would try it. Now, I am an avid label reader. I would expect a different flavor though from the biscuits.

The first thing that attracts us to any food is the color and the presentation the other staff comes next so yes we judge food first by its cover.

I tend to judge food by it's smell as well as what it looks like. Your "colorful biscuits" make me think of a cookie made by the arrowhead company, they are shaped like bells with sprinkles of red and green on them. I know that it is not the same as what you had, but it reminded me of them all the same. I have a friend whom at one time would smell her food before eating it, she got out of that habit though.

I concur, smell is an important aspect in deciding if the food is good to eat. By looks alone though, it could be deceiving sometimes, but nevertheless a good measure.
