When I saw The Guns of Navarone in Spanish

I just took a break from writing and turned on my TV. I see that the 1961 movie "The Guns of Navarone" with Gregory Peck is playing. It's a favorite of mine that I've seen many times on television.
But my favorite memory of watching this WW2 adventure story was when I saw it in Madrid years ago when I spent some time in Spain. The movie was, of course, dubbed into Spanish. And though I studied the language and could speak it to a degree, it was a challenge following the dialog.
But that was ok. I remembered all the plot lines from the seeing the film on TV. So, even though I missed a lot of the Spanish dialog, I still enjoyed watching "The Guns of Navarone" in that Madrid theater immensely.

Yes, it was a great opportunity to improve my language skills.

We watched a Scottish film at our local film festival recently and were really pleased that it had English subtitles!

That was a fun experience. I have gone to see French movies in Paris and no subs so it is a challenge to follow what is going on. You would be surprised how much you can grasp from expression and tone and visuals.
