a grand day out

We went to the local marina, Mother and I. We meandered along the waterside, admiring the posh, shiny boats and the dereliction of the old buildings. The contemporary flats rose above the quayside bistros and pubs, high into the sky, at stark contrast to the tattered remnants of riverside warehouses. The sky was the clearest blue. The clouds were fluffy, like cotton wool. The sun shone brightly. Oh, so brightly. The chill in the air spoke of woolly hats, gloves and scarves. It was beautiful. And relaxing. Beautifully relaxing. Days like this are my favourite winter days. They bring with them the promise of spring, encouraging thoughts of baby bunnies and little bleating lambs, daffodils and washing on the line. I believe it's supposed to snow later, just a little.
