Journey Along the Silk Road

Last weekend I went to an amazing Theatre performance. The show was a story about a princess who has to journey along the Silk Road to collect 3 magical ingredients to create medicine and save her dying mother, the Empress. The story was largely told through belly dancers from around the world. The choreography was amazing and the stories and fables about the Silk Road were so real, it felt as if I was there at times. The princess passed through China, Turkey, Baghdad, Egypt, India along the Silk Road and each country had belly dancing and stories relevant to their own cultures. It was incredibly creative and inspiring, combined with Middle Eastern history and dance. I wish we could see more Theatre like this.

That certainly sounds a very different sort of theatre. Was this in Mandurah?

@JudyEv Yes Judy it was Mandurah Performing Arts Centre. They seem to have some very interesting shows on there nowadays. This was different, most of the dancers came from New York and others from Asia. A really delightful show. I'm hoping to do some voluntary work there.

@JudyEv I did some Theatre work in Kwinana for a time. Really loved being on the stage. Alas I left my run far too late, but would like to be involved in a small way with the Performing Arts

@glenniah BREC (Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre) has some good shows too. We are members but haven't volunteered our services yet.

@arthurchappell Yes it was fabulous, Arthur. I have now joined the Performing Arts to do volunteer work like front of house, or selling coffee and such. Of course if they ever wanted me on stage I would certainly oblige

There's nothing like seeing a live performance at the theatre, is there? This one sounds wonderful.

Janet, I always wish I had followed my dream and at least attempted to be on the stage. I have done some local stuff but that is all. I love to go to the theatre and watch a live performance tho.
