From the iPod #3 - "So What"

When Miles Davis was recording his Kind of Blue, he might not have considered that it would become possibly the greatest jazz album ever made.
Especially interesting is that, according to Ashley Kahn's book Kind of Blue, is that Davis did not compose any of the album's songs. Rather, he brought cards with ideas with him, passed them out, and got right down to it.
"So What" is the opening track, and, with the exception of Dave Brubeck's "Take Five," might just be the most instantly recognizable song in jazz.
Those ideas scribbled by Davis certainly paid off big time. "So What" is a jazz classic from a classic album, and worth every minute spent listening. After all, how can you go wrong with a band featuring John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderly, and Bill Evans, all jazz legends themselves?
You cannot.
I play this one a few times when it comes up on shuffle. Yes, it's that good.

It might just be the greatest jazz tune ever recorded, just like the album. Miles was a genius.

It is a word that gets used all too much, especially these days. But in this case, it's apt.

I love jazz. I wish more people did, but at the same time, I get why people aren't.
